Abstract

The World Evangelical Alliance established a Peace and Reconciliation Network in 2016, which strives through training and deeds to contribute to the biblical peace commission. This commission has hitherto been insufficiently acted upon, particularly with regard to the area of social harmony. The one-sidedness of the Lausanne Declaration has been overturned and reconciliation with God is now understood to be inseparable from reconciliation with one another. The guidelines of the network describe evangelical peace-theology as being rooted in God, biblical, Christ-centred, Spirit-inspired, pertaining to the context and promoting the local congregation. Churches and missions should be motivated through training and support to carry out more work to promote peace. Campaigns to this end are being carried out and more are being planned.
