The debate about migration is one of the most challenging of our times. This often follows a postcolonial pattern and is characterised by the loss of existing multicultural achievements. A postmigrant narrative must unmask where migrants are made to be others and how plurality can be lived out. The concepts of othering, undermining of agency, and territorial and cultural boundaries are discussed critically. Church statements emphasise the universality of biblical migration narratives and postcolonial exegesis. Relevant contributions of the theologians Tanner, Groody, Guardiola-Sáenz and Castillo Guerra are presented. Finally, contours of a post-migration theology are presented, urging a critical examination of biblical migration texts, their effective history and dominant interpretations.
