Abstract

Christian mission is directed towards the world as the part of creation that is disobedient to God. The history of the world and of salvation should neither be separated nor considered to be congruent. Consequently, the Church must be considered as being in the world, but not of the world, in order to be effective in its mission in the context of the world. Church and world are both relevant to God, whereby the Church is already a manifestation of the new world. This rearrangement of the new world was depicted in the jubilee year in Israel, which reset social and economic dependencies among people and also the relationship between them and God. World-centred mission is done with respect to the whole of creation, it is trinitarian, seeks God’s shalom, the redemption of humanity as a whole and of the individual.
