Abstract

In this paper, the author takes issue with some ideas of Hägglund and argues instead that the old biblical prophetic heritage is not fixated on the hereafter, but stands rather for justice for all humankind in this life. „Nature“ cannot be separated from the entirety of human activity. The embedding of human activities in the ecology of the earth is the political sphere. Following the great cosmic redeemer Jesus Christ implies divine-human-cooperation as a synergy between God and creation. In the political process, all agents on the whole religious-secular spectrum must work together. The extension of the range and agents in the political sphere is linked with the central question to what extent non-human natural phenomena may be adjudged to possess subjectivity and legal rights.
