Spirituality in the fellowship of creation requires a responsible ethic of ecology, which has been deficient until now. Pertinent impulses do however exist, in particular by Teilhard de Chardin, Jürgen Moltmann, in the WCC and recently by Pope Francis. The relationship between humans and creation from a biblical perspective must be clarified by means of a re-reading of the relevant passages. Thus, the mandate to rule over creation found in the creation passages must take as their basis the New Testament model of lordship through service. Ideas on creation should take the second creation at the fulfilment of all things into consideration. Knowledge of God presupposes love towards God; this love applies also to the Spirit, who traverses all creation and vitalises it. This gives rise to suffering-with and hoping-with creation.
