The author puts forward four theses concerning the appropriate use of questions in a practical-theological context: A healthy spiritual and religious development requires an open culture where questions may be posed. Jesus is a master of asking questions, using them to draw the attention of his interlocutor to essential matters. People of every age must be encouraged to ask questions, so that they do not receive answers to questions that they have not asked. Rightly posed questions enable problems to be perceived and make it easier to look for solutions. The theoretical considerations are exemplified in concrete situations in the church as well as in practical-theological communication of the gospel in church and secular contexts.
